The Driskill Hotel in Austin, built in 1886 by cattle baron Jesse Driskill, caters to those who are traveling for business and/or pleasure. The hotel is a member of Associated Luxury Hotels International and Historic Hotels of America and is conveniently located at Brazos and Austin’s world-famous 6th Street.

Children and Pampered Pets

Children receive a coloring book and crayons from the Driskill Hotel, and a visit to the 1886 Café & Bakery will get them a treat of milk and cookies. The hotel welcomes guests’ pets with the Driskill’s Pampered Pet Program, which features designer pet beds, doggie treats, special food and water bowls, and a brand new chew toy; there is a $50 pet fee.

Driskill Amenities

Driskill guests have full access to the Executive Business Center, which includes computers, printers, fax machines, copiers, and office supplies. The Driskill also provides in-room dining, laundry and dry cleaning service, safety deposit boxes, concierge service, daily newspapers, and nightly turndown service.

Other facilities include meeting rooms for conferences, as well as banquet rooms for weddings or other celebrations.

The hotel also has a 24-hour fitness studio with treadmills, recumbent bicycles, elliptical machines, and stair-steppers as well as a swimming pool. The fitness studio also has private saunas, dressing rooms, and showers. The in-house registered massage therapists provide deep-tissue, sports, and traditional massages, as well as aromatherapy and prenatal massages.

Opened in downtown Austin, Texas in 1886, this famous luxury hotel boasts a rich history.  The Driskill Hotel is rumored to be haunted by several spirits. The hotel is beautiful, full of lots of history and wonderful stories. I stayed in the “alleged” suicide bride room during my stay and got to explore the Maximilian Room during the 3 am timeframe.
