Austin Mosquito-Barrier Treatments
Backyard mosquito control is not hard if you do it right and this video will teach people the proper outdoor mosquito control techniques to use, as well as the right mosquito spray, and other mosquito control products that should be used to effectively kill mosquitoes and get rid of them for good in the backyard. Following are the top answers & questions about mosquito-barrier spray treatments in the Austin area.
What chemicals does Austin mosquito control include?
There are two main products used in our mosquito treatment. The first is an all-natural product that we use around ponds, vegetable gardens, flowering shrubs, and flowers to keep them safe and avoid harming your pollinators. The second is our main barrier spray, comprised of synthetic forms of pyrethrins called pyrethroids. Pyrethrins are insecticides that are derived from the extract of chrysanthemum flowers. Pyrethroids are used in numerous commercial products that consumers use to control insects, such as household insecticides, pet shampoos and sprays, and even lice shampoos. We spray this chemical on shrubs, low-lying tree branches, your foundation, mulch beds, etc. As it is a plant derivative, it will not harm plants. All of the chemicals we use are EPA approved.
Are they safe for my plants, pond, kids, and pets?
You, your children, and your pets should not be outside during the application of the spray treatment, but you may return to your outdoor fun after allowing the treatment to dry for 30 minutes.
Does anyone need to be home when the yard is treated?
No one needs to be home during the treatment; as long as your gate is unlocked and your pets are inside, our technician can treat it. Our trained professionals will obtain any information pertinent to your location (i.e. locked gate) when you sign up.
How will I know if the treatment was done if I’m not home?
Your technician will leave a door hanger upon completion of your treatment so you will know your yard has been serviced. Information on this door hanger will include your date and time of service as well as any comments and helpful hints the technician may have to help you keep your yard as uninviting as possible for mosquitoes, ticks, and other pests.
What if it rains after my yard has been treated?
As long as your yard has had adequate time to dry after the application of your treatment (approximately 30 minutes), rain should not impact the effectiveness of your service. However, our Squad Guarantee ensures that if the quality of your barrier spray service is affected by rain, we will return to your yard to ensure you are mosquito-free until your next scheduled service.
How long does it take to do the barrier spray treatment? How long will it last?
A typical treatment will average about 20 minutes. Larger yards may take longer to treat. Each treatment lasts approximately 21 days, at which time our team will be scheduled to treat your yard again.
Can I just get a one-time treatment for a special outdoor party?
Yes. We have a special event spraying available for everything from a small birthday party to a huge wedding reception. Special-event treatment is provided 24-48 hours before the event and will remain effective even if it rains.More Resources
